I am an associate professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California, San Diego and a documentarian who works in video and collaborative photography. This is my CV and here are a few complementary notes:

• I dream of opening a Bob Dylan karaoke bar — imaginatively conceived — on the US-Mexico border.

• I root for the 76ers and Eagles of my hometown, Philadelphia.
   

• ​I am a founding member of the AjA Project, an amazing non-profit dedicated to empowering youth in historically disadvantaged communities in the San Diego/Tijuana region.
   

• Some of the most meaningful labor I've engaged in was coordinating a campaign to
  free my brother and two of his friends from their unjust detention in Iran
  after their misadventure hiking in Iraqi Kurdistan.
   

• I believe strongly in family naps in big hammocks.
